By Digital Extremes, best known for its looter shooter Warframe, has just been affected by the wave of layoffs. This means that the company will stop working on any external projects and focus on its own productions.

It is not known what the cause of the layoffs is or exactly how many employees have lost their jobs. One of them, Ron Davey, shared the news that he was ending his partnership with DE on his profile on LinkedIn, along with the entire external development team of about 30 people. The studio itself, however, did not address this news.

One of the external games that Digital Extremes will abandon is Wayfinder. The company announced that everything related to the project will return to the developers in the coming months. Developing the project, Airship Syndicate, thanked the publisher for its cooperation and announced, that it does not intend to stop work on the title, which was released in August in early access.

While the reasons for the job cuts are not known, it is worth noting that they came shortly after the CEO change. Last month, James Schmalz stepped down and was replaced by Steve Sinclair.

In the foreseeable future, Digital Extremes' work will be focused on Soulframe. Details on the project are still scarce, however.
